In Motion Dance Center offers a wide range of Kids classes that are structured to introduce different dance forms to children of all ages. Our classes are taught by trained professionals who have the experience working with children and teaching them the basics of each dance form.
Our state-of-the-art facility features full-wall mirrors for perfect body alignment and reinforced wood floors that absorb impacts to provide a completely safe dancing and learning environment for all dancers.
Twinkle Babies Ages 2-3
A thirty minute introductory dance class containing ballet and creative movement. Young dancers will learn the basic steps while learning how to follow direction and imitate movement in a positive environment. Engaging music is used to get these little guys inspired to dance. The use of props such as Twinkle bears and hula hoops, enables the young dancers to use their imagination, creativity and, most of all, have fun!

Twinkle Stars DanceTM - Ages 4-5 & 5-6
An age specific 45 minute class containing ballet, tap and jazz/creative movement. The purpose of the class is to introduce young dancers to the three styles of dance and inspire movement and creativity within a positive environment. Dancers will also learn basic steps and terminology in all three styles. For example, all dancers will learn what a “plie” is and how to demonstrate one. The use of fun, age appropriate music engages the young dancers’ minds and bodies. The use of props such as hula hoops for the “freeze dance” makes the end of class the most fun!
The art form of using slow, controlled movements to achieve flexibility, balance and agility. Students learn the proper technique necessary to achieve and further develop their acrobatic skills. Skills include but not limited to: splits, hand stands, head stands, forward/backward rolls, back bends, front/back walk overs, arabians, aerials, front/back handsprings, introductory contortion movements,etc. We offer 3 levels of Acro classes. Please see requirements listed below.
*Acro 1: basics are learned
*Acro 2: must have standing backbend, right and left cartwheels, and one-handed cartwheel
*Acro 3: must have continuous front and back walkovers
Ballet is the foundation of dance. The fundamentals of ballet will be taught using classical ballet technique. Each class will concentrate on proper alignment, lift, turnout, terminology and style.
Tap requires a great deal of rhythm and coordination and can be a challenging style of dance. Tap is a rhythmic and percussive dance performed wearing shoes fitted with metal taps. Dancers have fun and make noise!
Jazz combines many styles and techniques from ethnic and contemporary dance, to ballet. Rhythm, upon which all dance forms depend, is particularly integral to jazz dance. The first half of class consists of exercises which stretch and tone muscles and develop support for proper stressfree alignment of the skeletal structure. Using jazz, soul, R&B, ethnic and pop music, jazz classes are a great workout and a fun way to release tension while attaining a body awareness.
A concurrent ballet class is recommended to enhance strength and technique.
Hip Hop provides a structured method of learning various Hip Hop dance movements in a funfilled and vibrant class environment. From R&B and House to Club and Pop, Hip Hop classes utilize upbeat music from various genres, in addition to the latest Hip Hop hits. The resulting outcome is an energetic class that not only teaches you Hip Hop movements and technique, but also instills rhythm and precision in your muscle memory.
Love Riverdance? Now you can do it, too! Irish step dance is characterized by a relatively immobile upper body, straight arms, and quick, precise movements of the feet. In this introduction to Irish step, we’ll tackle the subsets of soft-shoe technique: jigs, reels, and slipjigs. Irish dancing is great exercise, lots of fun, and there’s that fabulous, upbeat music.
Lyrical is a fusion of ballet with jazz and contemporary dance techniques. Lyrical dancing is performed to music with lyrics to inspire movements to express strong emotions. Lyrical dancing focuses on the dancers' individual approach and expressiveness than the precision of the their movements.
Private classes are for dancers hoping to focus more on dance in a personalized setting or who wish to reinforce what they have learned without interrupting a class setting. We also offer private lessons to those who wish to compete a “solo” in a cheer, dance team, kickline try-outs, auditions or competitive dance setting.
